In 2013 my husband was started on a course of chemotherapy at Whiston hospital by Dr Gharib this was done on ward 2A with all the wonderful staff. Over the last 2 years and some frightening times for myself and my husband I can truly say that Dr Gharib has been very supportive. He has such a calm and reassuring manner that puts you at ease straight away. He will make time for you even with his busy schedule making you feel you are a person not a number. I regard Dr Gharib as our friend, this wonderful man with the best ever bedside manner. Thank you Dr Gharib I'm sure you've saved my husband a few times, you and your fantastic haematology team. My husband James and myself cannot thank you enough. Mrs Valerie Taylor

I first met Dr Gharib in 2010 when I was diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma. Hearing for the first time that you have cancer is terrifying but Dr Gharib instantly reassured me and from this I gained a positive outlook which is needed when hearing this news. Throughout my dealings with Dr Gharib I have found him to be very approachable, patient, honest, reassuring and very caring. Following successful Radiotherapy treatment I was monitored on a regular basis for the next 4 years. Unfortunately, my cancer returned in 2014 with a diagnosis of Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma. This time Dr Gharib recommended RCHOP chemotherapy instead of Radiotherapy as the best solution to attack the tumour. His eye for detail in spotting small changes in other lymph nodes was his reasoning behind this. I successfully completed my 6 sessions and I am now undergoing maintenance therapy for 2 years. Towards the end of the RCHOP treatment I picked up a virus which my depleted immune system was unable to deal with. I was admitted to Whiston Hospital in Ward 2A under the care of Dr Gharib. I received excellent nursing care from all the team and my sepsis condition was successfully treated. Whilst being admitted to hospital I was told that the duty doctor had spoken to Dr Gharib at home at 11:30pm at night and that he had prescribed my medication and was being kept fully informed of my wellbeing. It was extremely reassuring for me and my family to learn that my consultant was so involved in my treatment. He visited me on the ward and fully reassured me that I would get over this hurdle and make a full recovery. I was discharged in time to spend Christmas with my family and I do not feel this would have been possible without the care and attention from Dr Gharib and his wonderful team. I cannot thank him enough for saving my life and for the ongoing care, attention, medical expertise and reassurance that I receive at each visit. He is an asset to Whiston Hospital, his team and the NHS. James McGuire Patient

Dr. Gharib has been exceptional, he listens and is pro active. He also is very good at reassuring any of your concerns and he is willing to go that extra mile in doing so. I dont think you could ask for much more from a doctor. Many thanks.

My first consultation with Dr. Gharib, was in 2012, when it was diagnosed that I was suffering from Follicular Lymphoma, for the next 12 months or so, I was closely monitored, and kept fully informed, regarding the condition. In 2013, I started a course of chemotherapy, and this was followed by a maintenance program that lasted, a period of 2 years. Throughout this time I had regular appointments with Dr. Gahrib and his excellent team. At my last consultation with him, it was confirmed that my condition was in complete remission. I think, like most people must, that when you are given, the news that you have a condition similar to mine, it is quite concerning, I can say that with all sincerity, that nothing has been too much trouble, for Dr. Gahrib, and his team, to take time to explain, all the implications. At all times I was treated, with full concern and respect and the whole of the team, are a credit to the field of medicine that they specialise in. I think it would be difficult, to suggest any areas or care or treatment, that could be improved on. So, thank you Dr. Gahrib and all the members of your team. Jeff Calderbank August 2015
